Nude Beatrice Pediconi
z2o Sara Zanin è lieta di presentare Nude, la terza personale in galleria di Beatrice Pediconi, a cura di Cecilia Canziani.
Pediconi (Roma, 1972 – vive e lavora a New York) è un’artista multimediale la cui ricerca è da anni legata a una pratica interdisciplinareche attraversa medium tradizionali per approdare a inedite soluzioni formali ed espressive. Nella mostra Nude, che segna il suo ritorno in Italia dopo cinque anni. Pediconi presenta in anteprima un ampio corpus di lavori che riflette sullo statuto di fotografia, a partire dalla sua decostruzione.
“Untitled agisce come il testimone di un processo di cui resta solo un’impronta, come testimonianza di una perdita: un gesto che riflette sull’assenza di memoria storica e sul distacco personale. Il disegno è dunque il risultato di una migrazione, e la sua traccia volatile e minimale resta in bianco, come l’ultimo ed unico testimone di una storia. Beatrice Pediconi (Rome, 1972) lives and works in New York.
Beatrice Pediconi is an Italian-born visual artist based in New York whose interdisciplinary practice includes drawing, photography, painting, collage, video, and installation.
Pediconi earned a Bachelor of Art and Architecture at La Sapienza University, Rome in 1999. In 1995 she was awarded an Erasmus Scholarship in Paris at the University of la Villette, where she studied painting and art history. Pediconi was awarded an Artist in Residency Fellowship at Djerassi (CA, NY) in 2019 and Yaddo (NY, US) in 2018. In 2008 she has won the VII Biennal of Experimental Art in Saint Petersburg, Russia and she is a recipient of the Special 2015 Videoinsight prize for Italian Artists.
Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as Cinema Ephemera, curated by Brooklyn Public Library Art,Central Brooklyn Public Library, NY (2020), Nucleus/Imagine Science, Noorderlich Photofestival, Groningen, The Netherland (2017), The Other View, Italian Women photographers 1965-2015, The Triennale Design Museum, Milan, Italy (2016), Plumbing-Sequence VII-Real Time video Biennial, Reykjavik, Iceland (2015), Ensemble-Quand La Maison Européenne de la Photographie Collectionne, Les Rencontres d’ Arles, France (2015), The Polaroid Years, The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center,Vassar, NY (2013).
Pediconi’s work has been acquired by numerous public and private Museums such as La Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, the Macro Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome and the Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia amongs others. Her work has been published and reviewed in international magazines, including Il Giornale dell’Arte, Artforum, Harper’s Magazine, Art in America and Photograph Magazine.
